About Olubunmi Mary Eniola Adefioye (OMEA) Foundation

A vision born from love, dignity and purpose

Founded on a simple belief: no one should grow older feeling alone, overlooked or without the support they need. We are creating communities where older people are valued, connected and cared for, giving them the opportunity to age with dignity, purpose and joy. Through compassion, partnership and practical support, we are building the foundations for healthier, happier and more fulfilling later lives.

Our Genesis

How OMEA Foundation Started

OMEA was born from a family's desire to transform a personal legacy into a lasting social impact for future generations. Inspired by the life, values, and compassion of Olubunmi Mary Eniola Adefioye, OMEA seeks to address a growing but often overlooked need in Nigeria: the care, dignity, wellbeing, and support of older adults. The idea emerged from recognising that many elderly people, particularly those without adequate family support, face challenges related to loneliness, declining health, social isolation, and access to appropriate care. At the same time, the part of a family-owned ancestral land in Ile-Ife presented an opportunity to create something meaningful that would honour the past while serving the community.

Alongside targeted community health education outreaches and the ambition to become a hub for education, training, research and collaboration with like minded professionals, the first flagship initiative under OMEA is the Ile Ife Gardens Elderly Assisted Elderly Living and Community Well being Village which will include 20-25 bed accommodation for people aged 60 and over in a combination of comfortable single and double rooms, designed to meet the diverse needs of older adults

A key feature of the development will be a dedicated wellbeing and therapeutic garden home-grown food garden, enabling the cultivation of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, offering residents a peaceful outdoor space for relaxation, exercise, social interaction, and connection with nature.

Every aspect of the home will be centred on the individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing. Rather than simply providing accommodation and care, the environment will foster a true sense of belonging and community. Residents will be encouraged to maintain independence, pursue personal interests, build meaningful relationships, and participate in activities that promote healthy and active ageing.

“Every aspect of the home will be centred on the individual's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.”
